Enpresse Uses? |
 |
| |
This medication, Enpresse, is for
the prevention of pregnancy or the regulation of your
menstrual cycle. Some types of birth control pills can
also be used to treat acne or as a ?morning after? pill.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about any questions.
Birth control pills will not protect you from sexually
transmitted diseases such as HIV or gonorrhea. |
|
|
 |
 |
Enpresse Directions? |
 |
| |
Enpresse should be taken with food in order to avoid
an upset stomach. You should try to take the drug at the same time each
day, which will help you develop that habit. It?s important to be familiar
with all the usage information for your medication and to follow your
dosing schedule. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about any questions you
have. During the first week on this medication you must use a supplemental
birth control, since it will not be effective yet. If you are using this
as a ?morning after? pill, follow your doctor?s instructions exactly. |
 |
 |
Enpresse Side Effects? |
 |
| |
Enpresse may cause dizziness, headache,
lightheadedness, stomach upset, bloating, or nausea. If these effects
persist or worsen, contact your doctor. Notify your doctor if you
experience: severe depression, groin or calf pain, sudden severe headache,
chest pain, shortness of breath, lumps in the breast, weakness or tingling
in the arms or legs, yellowing of the eyes or skin. If you notice other
effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. |
 |
 |
Enpresse Warnings? |
 |
| |
When prescribing Enpresse, your doctor must know all
of your medical history, including seizures, asthma, kidney disease, liver
heart disease, stroke, history of jaundice (yellowing skin/eyes) or high
blood pressure during pregnancy, heart attack, high blood pressure,
excessive weight gain or fluid retention during menstrual cycle, blood
clots, migraine headaches, breast cancer, high blood level of cholesterol
or lipids (fats), diabetes, depression. When taken in larger doses, this
drug may cause patchy darker spots on the skin, known as melasma. Exposure
to sunlight may aggravate this condition, so avoid extended exposure to
sun or sun lamps and wear sunscreen and protective clothing. It may take a
long time to become pregnant after stopping birth control pills. Do not
smoke cigarettes while taking the pill. This medication causes a small
increase in the likelihood of blood clots, strokes, high blood pressure,
heart attacks, vision problems, and gallbladder disease, liver tumors.
Cigarette smoking and age will increase your risk of these side effects
even more. Read the patient information leaflet for more details on these
side effects. You should talk to your doctor about any questions,
especially if you are over 40 or a nonsmoker. Those who are near sighted
or who wear contacts may experience eye problems, or your lense tolerance
may decrease. See an eye doctor for help. If you are having surgery,
including dental surgery, let your doctor know that you are taking this
medication. Do not take Enpresse during pregnancy or while breast-feeding.
This drug is passed in breast milk and may have a harmful effect on the
baby. Talk to your doctor. |
 |
 |
Enpresse Drug Interactions? |
 |
| |
Before taking Enpresse, your doctor should know
about all other medications you are taking. There are drugs that may make
your birth control pills less effective, including griseofulvin, many
antibiotics (e.g., penicillins, macrolides, tetracyclines, sulfas,
cephalosporins), modafinil, many seizure medications (e.g., phenytoin,
barbiturates, primidone, ), chloramphenicol, carbamazepine), dapsone,
rifamycins (e.g., rifampin), nevirapine, nelfinavir, ritonavir, St John's
wort, troglitazone. Talk to your doctor about whether you should use
additional forms of birth control while you are taking any of these
medications. Your doctor should also know if you are taking thyroid
hormone drugs, certain antidepressants (e.g., tricyclics), "blood
thinners" (anticoagulants such as warfarin), certain benzodiazepines
(e.g., diazepam, chlordiazepoxide), prednisone-like drugs, beta-blockers
(e.g., metoprolol), and insulin. Taking this medication can cause a change
in lab tests such as thyroid tests. Make sure that lab employees know that
you use this drug. Birth control pills can make alcohol much more
powerful. Do not begin taking a new medication or stop taking any of your
existing medications without your doctor?s consent. |
 |
 |
Enpresse Storage? |
 |
| |
Keep Enpresse out of sunlight and away from
moisture. Make sure the medication is out of reach of children. |
 |

 |
| |
Enpresse
is used to prevent pregnancy or to regulate your menstrual cycle.
Certain brands of birth control pills may be used for treating acne or
as a "morning after" pill for emergency contraception. Consult
your doctor or pharmacist. Use of this medication does not protect you
or your partner against sexually transmitted diseases (e.g., HIV,
gonorrhea). |
| |
|
 |

 |
| |
Before
you take this Enpresse, tell your doctor your entire medical history,
including family medical history, especially: asthma, high blood
pressure, kidney disease, liver heart disease, stroke, history of
jaundice (yellowing skin/eyes) or high blood pressure during pregnancy,
excessive weight gain or fluid retention during menstrual cycle, blood
clots, heart attack, seizures, migraine headaches, breast cancer, high
blood level of cholesterol or lipids (fats), diabetes, depression.
Depending on strength, this drug may cause a patchy, darkening of the
skin on the face (melasma). Higher strengths are more likely to cause
melasma. Sunlight may intensify this darkening and you may need to avoid
prolonged sun exposure and sunlamps. Consult your doctor regarding use
of sunscreens and protective clothing. It may take a long time for you
to become pregnant after you stop taking birth control pills. Consult
your doctor. Do not smoke cigarettes. Birth-control pills slightly
increase your risk of strokes, blood clots, high blood pressure, heart
attacks, gallbladder disease, vision problems, and liver tumors.
Cigarette smoking (especially 15 or more cigarettes daily) and age
(women older than 35/smokers or 40/nonsmokers years of age) further
increase the risk of stroke, blood clots, high blood pressure and heart
attacks. Ask your pharmacist or doctor for a copy of the patient
labeling which explains these risks in more detail. Consult your doctor
for any questions, including possible use in nonsmokers over 40 years of
age. If you are near-sighted or wear contact lenses, you may develop
vision problems. Also, your tolerance of the lenses may decrease.
Contact your eye doctor if these problems occur. Before having surgery,
including dental surgery, tell the doctor that you take birth control
pills. This drug must not be used during pregnancy. If you become
pregnant or think you may be pregnant, inform your doctor immediately.
This medication passes into breast milk. This may affect milk production
and may have harmful effects on a nursing infant. Consult your doctor
before breast-feeding.

Try to take this medication at the same time each day. This may help you
to remember to take it. Learn proper use of your particular brand of

of birth control during the first week of taking this medication since
it takes a while to be effective. Follow your doctor's directions
